Junctional rhythm describes an abnormal heart rhythm resulting from impulses coming from a locus of tissue in the area of the atrioventricular node, the "junction" between atria and ventricles. Under normal conditions, the heart's sinoatrial node determines the rate by which the organ beats – in other words, it is the heart's "pacemaker".
2017-11-16 · AV dissociation can also be seen after radiofrequency ablation of the slow pathway responsible for AV nodal reentry tachycardia, leading to acceleration of an AV junctional activation that is faster than the sinus node activation. After exertion, if AV dissociation is present from an escape pacemaker, it can be a normal phenomenon.
Dr. S. Aswini Kumar. MD Professor of Medicine Medical College Hospital Thiruvananthapuram A V N o d e BLOCK Background: Junctional rhythm (JR) is commonly observed during radiofrequency (RF) ablation of the slow pathway for atrioventricular (AV) nodal reentrant tachycardia. However, the atrial activation pattern and conduction time from the His‐bundle region to the atria recorded during JR in different types of AV nodal reentrant tachycardia have not been fully defined. 2021-04-13 2019-11-03 AV-nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) is a type of abnormal fast heart rhythm. It is a type of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), meaning that it originates from a location within the heart above the bundle of His. AV nodal reentrant tachycardia is the most common regular supraventricular tachycardia.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine whether the response to entrainment of tachycardia during ventricular stimulation with correction for AV node delay is a useful, simple maneuver for differentiating AV nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) from orthodromic reciprocating tachycardia (ORT) using a concealed accessory pathway.

The "junction" is usually defined as all of the complex AV node and the Bundle of His. atrioventricular junctional rhythm a junctional rhythm originating in the bundle of His, with a heart rate of 40 to 60 beats per minute; called also nodal rhythm. automatic rhythm spontaneous rhythms initiated by the sinoatrial node, or by subsidiary atrial or ventricular pacemakers; in practice this refers to a normal sinus rhythm at a rate of 60 to 100 beats per minute. Rhythms arising near the atrioventricular node: junctional rhythm (escape rhythm) and junctional tachycardia. In this article, you will learn about rhythms arising in, or near, the atrioventricular (AV) node. The most common rhythm arising in the AV node is junctional rhythm, which may also be referred to as junctional escape rhythm. Rate control also can be used in patients who failed rhythm control strategies including ablation or electrical cardioversion. The traditional method of rate control is using atrioventricular (AV) nodal blocking agents, but their use can be limited by patient nontoleration and hypotension.
The AV node serves as a traffic signal, controlling the rate of electrical impulses from the atria allowed to reach the ventricles, limiting the danger of 1 to 1 conduction of fast rhythms from the atrium to the ventricles. Not too rarely, a dual AV nodal physiology can occur during sinus rhythm, through unexpected and sudden changes in the AV conduction time, so that two distinct PR families can be observed. It is likely that the presence of dual AV nodal pathways can facilitate or promote a Wenckebach conduction mechanism at nodal site. Ischemic AV nodal arrhythmias are some times very difficult to differentiate from vagotonia especially if occur within 24h.
